Develop you canyoning rescue skills. Dive into rescue hierarchy, direct and indirect rope rescue, and swiftwater rescue. This module is included in the Level 2 course.
In this rescue module you will learn the theory behind rope and water rescue. We look at rescue hierarchy and prevention so you understand the risks to yourself, your team and the victim if you have to perform a rescue. This module also covers a range of basic to intermediate rescue techniques for both rope and water, all covered in video and e-book lessons.
The rope rescue section covers the most basic rescues starting with self-rescue, then into indirect rescue techniques such as ‘releasing a victim’. You will then learn some basic direct rescue techniques and some more complex indirect rescue such as ‘cut the rope and lower’.
The water section of this module covers the theory and principles of swiftwater rescue along with self rescue, indirect and basic direct rescue techniques. Water rescue can often be high risk and time critical, so it's very important you understand the risks and techniques to keep you and a potential victim safe.
To get the most out of this rescue module we highly recommend you have experience in canyoning or have taken most of the other modules. In this module we do not cover rigging, pitch management or personal movement; it is assumed you have prior knowledge and practice on those subjects.
